Greatest SNL Skit EVER

Tina Fey does a perfect Alaska accent and Amy Poehler does a pretty realistic Clinton.

Heroes!

September 6, 2008

On a bit of a lighter note, considering my blog has gotten pretty serious in the past few days (and people that know me know that I never like to be too serious for too long :D ), I am SO excited for the TV show Heroes to come back later in September! I recently got into the show, watching the first 2 seasons online, and you could say I am a little obsessed. The show is so freaking suspenseful, I find myself on the edge of my seat during every episode. I have been able to watch every show one after the other, which has been very satisfying. I think I am spoiled, though, because during this season, I will have to wait a whole week for the next episode! I might go crazy, haha! I also love how there is also a hint of fantasy, but it is ultimately based in reality, with the same true-to-life problems as in America today. A few times there have been parallels to political situations, which I love catching and thinking about how the overall message correlates to what the writers may be trying to get across to the public. There is also a scientific aspect, which I think is really cool and helps give the show depth. Hiro is so funny, I love him and the fact that his name is Hiro. I totally wish I had powers too! Me and my roommate can sorta read each other’s minds, does that count? Lol. If I did have powers, I probably would have Peter Petrelli’s powers, who can mimic the power of any other evolved person. Pretty sweet. Plus he is super duper cute. Anyways, it sucks that we really don’t have these higher evolved people in real life, maybe they could figure out a way to fix this messed up world we live in.

While I was supposed to be studying for organic chemistry, I stumbled upon a very entertaining show called ‘Exiled’ on MTV. Yes, I watch MTV sometimes, and I am ashamed. Usually it is just to laugh at the stupid people that go on their reality shows. Especially the show, ‘My Super Sweet Sixteen’. It has always annoyed me to watch these teens get whatever they want, whenever they want, and treat people like shit on the way. The show never actually criticizes the girls and their attitudes, giving a lot of the impressionable teen audience the idea that their actions are normal and acceptable. This has always bugged me to no end.

And that is why the show, ‘Exiled’ is so freaking great. They take the most spoiled of the spoiled on ‘Sweet Sixteen’ and send them to a Third World country to show how the world really works. I love that these kids are finally being represented the way they should: as brats. Some of the things the kids say are actually kind of funny, though rather pathetic. One girl, when told she was going to the mountains of Peru, responded, “I thought Peru was an island.” A. Peru is not an island. B. There can’t be mountains on islands?
I wish I could send some people I know to Third World countries! Can I? Pleeeease?
Anyways, MTV does do a lot of damage to the younger generation, what with their lack of actual music programming, and their trashy reality shows. But maybe they are taking a step forward with ‘Exiled’? Just a tiny one.
